We book one tradesperson to do the small jobs in your village

It's hard to get an electrician or plumber out for a small job, like a dripping tap or a new light fitting. So we collect small jobs from people in the same village. When four of them need the same trade, we book one checked tradesperson to do them all on one day. Adding your job is free, and there's nothing to pay unless a day is booked.

Why four jobs get someone out

For a tradesperson, one small job means driving out, often an extra visit to quote, and a gap in the day. The job itself might take an hour. With four jobs in the same village on the same day, the trip is worth making, and you aren't paying for it on your own.

Where people have added jobs

So far we've only told one village, through its parish magazine. Every other dot on the map is someone who heard about it from a friend or a shared link. Each shared link carries a code, so we can see which village passed it on.

What happens when your village gets to four

    We find a tradesperson and check them before offering the dayThey'll need insurance, a listing with the council's Buy With Confidence scheme or TrustMark, and registration with their trade body where there is one. How we'll check

    You get a date, a two-hour slot and a priceTwo to four weeks ahead, with the tradesperson's name and photo. Until your village gets to four, nothing happens and you owe nothing.

    A £15 booking fee confirms your placeYou can have it back if you cancel within 14 days of booking. It's the only money we take.
  4. 4
    You pay the tradesperson directly for the workBy card or bank transfer on the day. Electrical work comes with its certificate.

What counts as small

Anything that takes an hour or two and can wait a few weeks: a mirror wired in, an outside light, a dripping tap, a toilet that keeps filling, a radiator moved, a patch of plaster, an oil boiler service.

It isn't for big jobs like a rewire or a new fuse board, or for gas work. It isn't for emergencies either. If you've no heating or hot water, or water is coming through the ceiling, you need someone today.
